THE COMPANY
They are a leading global private equity specialist private equity with over £1bn invested. They recently raised a further £1bn for further investment in their latest fund. The company currently outsource the management accounts function. They are now embarking on a project to bring this function in house. They are looking for a highly intelligent person with some experience and strong academic background to assist with the project and develop their accounting skills within the business

THE ROLE
Reporting to the Financial Controller, they are looking for a Assistant Accountant to support the growing demands of the finance function and expand its assistance to the business in all areas of administration. He or she would develop in the role, so that prior experience of private equity is not essential.

Tasks

Management Group (80%)

  • Coding and processing of sales and purchase invoices
  • Processing of all expenses including employee, debit and credit card transactions
  • Processing of monthly payment runs
  • Posting of monthly journals (fixed assets, prepayments, accruals, payroll)
  • Providing assistance on quarterly VAT and other regulatory filings
  • Weekly bank reconciliations
  • Assisting with the preparation of the management accounts
  • Assisting with year-end audit

Funds (20%)

  • Processing of monthly payment runs
  • Liaising with outsourced fund administrator
  • Providing assistance on quarterly investor reporting
  • Assistance with year-end audit

Other

Assistance in administration tasks (including filing etc) and other ad-hoc projects.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
To be considered for this role you should meet the following criteria:

  • University degree (1st class or 2:1 degree) and 'A's and 'B's at 'A' level with 6-18 months experience in accounting
  • Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) excellent skills
  • Sage Accounting package experience (essential)
  • Good numeracy and communication skills, attention to detail and a precise approach
  • Enjoy working in a small team in a dynamic fast paced office
