ESG Investment Analyst
£50,000 - £75,000 + Bonus + Benefits

THE COMPANY
Over 10 years old, they are a fast growth, entrepreneurial investment manager who invest in UK and EU mid-market infrastructure assets. They have a strong track record of creating value for their investors. They have successfully invested 2 funds and now are completing the raising their third fund. ESG has been at the heart of the investment life cycle since the company was formed and have their own ESG policy and ESG tool which they use and adhere to UNPRI. They now have an opportunity to work with an experienced ESG Manager and the asset management team in supporting the implementation of the ESG Policy, initiatives, data gathering, analysis and reporting, as well as working with the portfolio companies helping them driving ESG performance.

THE ROLE
Your role will require a wide range of skills including not only your ESG knowledge but also soft skills. The role includes the following:

  • Assisting in and ensuring relationships are built with the management teams of portfolio companies to support the improvement of ESG/sustainability practices, performance and risk management

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the portfolio companies ESG improvement plans and drive value change across the portfolio. This includes but is not limited to ESG on boarding, ESG assessment and ad-hoc ESG support

  • Support investment teams with ESG due diligence, including but not limited to the use of the firm's ESG bespoke tool and the completion of materiality assessment

  • Assist with ESG reporting to investors

  • Manage the ESG reporting process, overseeing data collection, quality assessment, data management, outputs and insights on key ESG metrics and targets across all fund strategies to monitor performance for ESG reporting to key stakeholders. Develop new reporting templates and optimise user experience.

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of tools, platforms, and reports to ensure actionable ESG data is available to investment professionals across the firm.

  • Undertake continual analysis of peer companies and other corporates to assess benchmark ESG positioning and disclosures, whilst identifying best practice

  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned from time to time (e.g. participate in collaborative and industry discussions).

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following:

  • Good knowledge and experience of ESG/Sustainability subjects, with a broad exposure to a variety of ESG related topics

  • Experience in carbon foot printing, understanding of common carbon footprint methodologies and external carbon reporting.

  • Experience with ESG metrics

  • Excellent analytical, mathematical/quantitative and attention to detail skills, including able to process, enquire and work with large datasets in excel

  • Excellent written and oral interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, work independently and strive for continuous improvement

  • Highly collaborative and team oriented

  • A fluent level of written and spoken English

  • Good knowledge and practical experience of Word and PowerPoint

Other skills but not essential

  • Experience in implementing and/or reporting sustainability/ESG in a corporate environment

  • Experience with data visualisation software such as Tableau or Power BI would be beneficial.

  • Experience of ESG data platforms, standards and/or benchmarks

  • Experience in climate stress testing and scenario analysis to generate strategic insights to support decision making

  • European languages useful
