An ambitious and growing FTSE 250 company who are one of the leading chemical manufacturers. The have several offices and facilities across the globe and employ of 4,000 people. You will be joining a dynamic and enthusiastic finance team.

The Role

The successful candidate will work alongside business stake holders, various finance functions and customer services. You will also liaise with external VAT compliance teams, allowing you to gain significant exposure to European Tax matters. You will be an integral part of the team and have the chance to grow your current VAT knowledge.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Have a good understanding and knowledge of preparing relevant UK and European VAT returns. - ESSENTIAL
  • Excellent competency in in VAT accounting requirements - ESSENTIAL
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and SAP - ESSENTIAL
  • Has previously supervised staff or has the leadership skills required.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Review transactions for VAT issues
  • Assist in performance of Monthly VAT Balance sheets - Both UK and European
  • Liaise with external indirect Tax advisors
  • Assist with VAT enquiries from various Authorities
  • Work with colleagues to transform and improve processes which involve VAT transactions and ensure they comply with legislation
  • Support the European VAT Manager with Tax advice and help develop working relationships with other finance teams
  • Assist with indirect Tax audits for countries across Europe
  • Help improve existing processes and system efficiencies

Location and Travel requirements:

  • Part of a European shared service and hybrid working is allowed (3 days in, 2 from home)
