Cameron Kennedy is currently partnering with a Council located in the South East of England to recruit an Interim Financial Accountant, supporting the Chief Accountant with the Year-end close down process. Reporting directly to the Chief Accountant, this pivotal role will involve the effective management of the year-end process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
Skills and Experience Required
Be a Qualified Accountant with significant experience in Council year-end close down procedures, including the preparation of financial statements and audit support.
Prior experience in a London Borough or Unitary Council setting would be highly advantageous.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting in the production of year-end accounts and financial statements.
Supporting the annual audit process, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and available for auditors.
Ensuring draft accounts are robust and prepared for audit scrutiny.
Managing communication and correspondence with auditors, addressing any queries or concerns that arise during the audit process.
This is a 3-month initial contract opportunity, operating on a hybrid basis with one day per week in the office. Due to the urgent nature of this role, only candidates who are immediately available or on short notice periods can be considered at this time.
