Established over 40 years ago, they have an excellent reputation and are a growing, entrepreneurial, specialist bank whose primary business is lending to the property industry. They have available a role which would suit someone who has excellent experience in an accounts department and is used to working in a hands on role posting of items in journals. Candidates from any industry background will be considered provided they meet the essential experience criteria.

The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be part of a small finance team working probably most days 9am - 5pm. Currently, there are still a lot of manual processes in place although a new general ledger will be put in soon to automate processes more effectively. So this role requires good experience of debits and credits. Your key responsibilities include

  • Efficient and accurate Purchase Ledger administration and processing
  • Daily Bank Reconciliations which must be accurate and be balanced bank reconciliations
  • Produce accurately the daily dashboard
  • General ledger processing
  • Review daily processing reports for errors and discrepancies
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Finance and Financial Controller
  • Accurate and timely daily and weekly reporting
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Senior Finance colleagues, Department heads (re purchase ledger), Loans and Deposits administrators (re bank reconciliations)

Who they are looking for
You would be working in a small finance department, so experience of a small finance department would be most welcome. We will not consider candidates who are looking to study ACCA or CIMA. To be considered for this role you should meet the following criteria:

  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar role essential
  • Experience of purchase ledger and bank reconciliations essential
  • Good double entry accounting skills and understanding of debits and credits essential
  • MS Excel Skills to basic formulae level
  • Confident with good communication skills essential
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Well organised, methodical and good time management skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and to work independently but also as part of a small team
  • AAT/ICB qualification a bonus but not essential
