They launch new firms, new funds and new services and then support them to ensure they operate efficiently, effectively and seek to maximise returns. The company has invested heavily in data, technology and analytics. serving institutional investors and alternative assets fund managers, based primarily in Europe and North America but have a global reach. They are a highly ambitious company with strong strategic expansion plans. Their environment is collegiate and their people are important to them. Due to further expansion, they have a new key VP level role within their investment advisory business.

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

In order to be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:

  • Excellent academics including achieving a minimum upper-second level degree from a highly rated university, ideally gained in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics or Engineering;
  • A minimum of 6 years' relevant experience within investment consulting, fiduciary management, asset management solutions or pension consulting;
  • Experience in analysing private credit/equity/illiquid strategies;
  • Demonstrable experience in manager selection and in manager research;
  • Good analytical and quantitative skills
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adjust to changing deadlines and complete projects on time and accurately
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work well in a small team
  • Excellent attention to detail, and solid report writing skills and ability to communicate complex ideas
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently, taking ownership
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Drive, energy and ambition to achieve results

Desirable skills and experience

  • CFA, CAIA, Qualified or part-qualified Actuary
  • Understanding of pension funds and/or insurance market
  • Experience in ESG
  • Financial modelling experience
  • Programming and coding skills in Excel VBA, Python or other similar languages

THE ROLE

You will be a core member of the research team and will assist with a variety of high-impact projects for institutional clients. Although covering all asset classes, they have a focus on alternative investments, specifically private markets (private equity, private credit, real estate and infrastructure). With a diverse client base, this role will be very broad and you will work on a variety of different projects and tasks. Key tasks and responsibilities:

Lead manager selection exercises for institutional clients

  • Lead Due Diligence exercises (investment and operational) with a focus on alternative investments including private markets;
  • Provide strategy advice for clients including pension funds;
  • Produce research and industry reports regularly;
  • Team management responsibilities;
  • Work closely with other parts of the group on cross-divisional projects;
  • Actively contribute to client pitches and marketing efforts.
