Business Planning Analyst
£50,000 - £60,000 + generous bonus possibility + benefits
Central London - Hybrid role

THE COMPANY
They are a leading active long only equity asset management house with circa £20bn over under management and over 100 employees across London, the Far East and USA. They have a newly created a forward thinking planning and analysis role which supports the finance team for business planning and forecasting purposes.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A minimum of two years' experience gained of budgeting & forecasting and understanding of the business planning process gained within any industry;
  • Understanding of accounting concepts essential;
  • Strong financial modelling and intermediate / advanced Microsoft Excel skills essential;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex and robust operational models based on tangible business concepts; good understanding of best practice techniques for spreadsheet model build (although the company has well developed financial models);
  • Strong analytical and logical problem solving skills; demonstrates creativity and curiosity;
  • Strong academic background and highly numerate;
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis including the ability to communicate key findings from analysis;
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy essential;
  • Strong oral and written communicator;
  • Able to manage competing priorities and keep stakeholders informed.

THE ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Business Partner and working closely within the finance team, this will suit a person with a flexible mind-set and responsive to short and changing deadlines. The role includes:

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Liaison with the businesses regarding inputs for the Annual Plan & monthly rolling forecasts
  • Ongoing detailed cost analysis of the business
  • Assistance in preparation of key documents and schedules for board papers

Cost Centre Reporting

  • To assist in management reporting and to provide insight into the costs and revenues generated by various parts of the group, cost centres are used. Monthly update and review of actuals to ensure alignment with annual plan and forecast
  • Quarterly distribution to cost centre managers with variance analysis commentary

Assets Under Management (AUM)

  • Understand the sources of the AUM and revenue streams so as to provide ongoing analysis and monthly update for the business
  • Provide assistance with respect to AUM projects

Financial Analysis and Modelling

  • Supports the Group forecast P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow models
  • Understand the end to end process of revenue and expenses and their inter-dependencies
  • Develop creative & structured solutions based on high level instruction
  • Scenario analysis for P&L & balance sheet
  • Scenario analysis for Head of Finance on costs
  • Strategy (cost centre) profitability
  • Use modelling techniques to streamline processes
  • Ad hoc analysis as required

Stakeholder Management

  • Manage and develop internal and external stakeholder relationships: Senior Management Team, Finance, IT, Risk and Group Business Planning and Analysis
  • Provide support to the broader Finance team and business as appropriate
