Commercial Finance Manager
£70,000 - £90,000 (Dependant on experience)+ bonus + benefits
London area - remote working from home

Based at home in and around the London area with access to Central London for occasional meetings. This role is an excellent opportunity to be involved at the commercial end of finance in a well-run family office who has a strong track record of success. The role will involve working with senior business management at Board level.

 

THE COMPANY
Part of a Family office business with £60m of assets - £30 million in bridging finance and £30 million with property development projects e.g. development of housing and flats in the UK

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA etc.)
  • Proven track record of working in a finance role within a property company setting
  • Proven track record of preparing group-level board packs and commercially focused KPI's
  • Demonstrable record of working with senior managers and shareholders to manage cash flow on a weekly basis and producing cash flow forecasts
  • Experience of implementing continuous improvement cycles
  • Ability to clearly communicate and influence commercial / financial matters to the target audience in a clear and user-friendly manner with an in-depth understanding of their challenges.
  • Fully conversant with all relevant Microsoft Office products, including advanced Excel skills, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet deadlines / respond to unplanned situations
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Knowledge

  • Preparation of budgets and associated monitoring of performance via production of KPI's from MI systems
  • Knowledge of relevant reporting requirements in line with UK GAAP
  • Development of KPIs that track sales / financial / operational performance
  • Providing support to the CFO re: creation of business plans

THE ROLE
Reporting to the CFO you will ensure commercial / financial expertise is instilled and maintained within all areas of the UK business to maximise growth opportunities and profits / operational cash flow in line with the business plan. You will be an ongoing advisor for all profit / cost centres for support, analysis and decision making in order to enhance overall business performance. The role of the commercial finance manager is to have responsibility for looking after the company's finances, advising the CFO and company management regarding the financial implications of business decisions, in order to aid growth and profit. The principal objective of the role is to allow the business to make strategic decisions and continued efficiency drives for sustainable growth and profitability. Reporting into the CFO, the responsibilities of the role will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Day to day management of the finance and accounting team
  • Liaising with the auditors and management accountant to prepare statutory financial statements for internal and external use and supporting auditing efforts
  • Oversight of monthly management accounts: P&L, Balance Sheet & Cashflow
  • Managing cash flow on a weekly basis by tracking transactions and regularly producing and reviewing 13-week cash flow forecasts
  • Annual budgeting & quarterly forecasting
  • Setting, communicating, and monitoring KPIs and goals for performance and growth as part of a comprehensive monthly reporting suite that showcases the company's performance (both for P&L and cash flow)
  • Identifying and implementing profit improvement opportunities
  • Continuing to develop and improve internal finance and business systems, together with the use of appropriate technology and automation
  • Liaising and supporting the management accountant regarding filing tax returns (e.g., VAT, CIS etc.)
  • Using financial data to perform analysis on the business
  • Supporting the business with regards to the existing bridge loan and property development portfolios, including day to day portfolio management and troubleshooting where required
  • Challenging and providing advice on growing the business and improving financial performance
  • Ensuring effective internal financial controls are in place and compliance with UK GAAP and applicable regulatory legislation for financial and tax reporting
  • Liaising with external advisers and meeting external reporting obligations (including annual audit process)
  • Managing outsourced commercial relationships (including pensions, ICT, and insurance)

You will have key internal relationships with the Chief Financial Officer and senior management team including Non-Executive Director(s) and Shareholders as well as externally Company investors and lenders, external consultants including property consultants, business development consultants and project managers, third party providers and suppliers for projects and HMRC, auditors and other statutory bodies
