They are a fast growing and highly regarded, leading investment banking and institutional broking business provide premium services within UK market sectors to clients with offices both in London and New York.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONALITY TRAITS REQUIRED

  • Qualified ACA (preferred) with 2 - 3 years post qualified and financial service services industry experience (preferred);
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and a strong grasp of accounting fundamentals;
  • Knowledge of sales ledger cycle, accounting and systems
  • Experience of producing quality, accurate, incisive well-presented financial information targeted to the right audience;
  • Track record for process improvement and use of initiative
  • SUN GL accounting package preferred, but not essential
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling skills in order to manipulate data
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to develop strong relationships with all levels of management, staff and our external client base
  • Good organisational and time management and ability to prioritise and plan work
  • Professional, enthusiastic, proactive and focused on delivering to a high standard at all times.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is a new role in a dynamic and successful business. The role will cover many aspects of the corporate and statutory accounting requirements of the finance department, as well as some management accounting responsibilities. The role will work with all areas of the business including Senior Management and the Board. Therefore, you will be someone who can build and maintain excellent working relationships with all levels of management, front office and middle office staff and external contacts alike. You will need to manage changing priorities and ad-hoc requests along with the more structured processes which support deliverables of the Finance Department as a whole. The role includes the following:

  • Assistance with preparation and submission of financial statements (annual and semi-annual);
  • Assistance with technical accounting areas, such as new IFRSs and other technical legislation;
  • Preparation of technical accounting memoranda and other reports/materials for the Board;
  • Preparation of financial analysis in relation to strategic opportunities and decisions;
  • Ongoing taxation compliance including corporation tax and VAT;
  • Review of the monthly management accounts;
  • Assistance with regulatory capital related analysis and reporting;
  • Provision of Finance process improvement recommendations to the Head of Finance and CFO;
  • Assistance with new Finance systems implementations / system add-ons where necessary;
  • Assisting and guiding more junior Finance team members;
  • Providing cover for other Finance team members in times of absence, where appropriate;
  • Assisting on preparation of other Finance department deliverables;
  • Take ownership of the existing Finance processes with a view to driving continuous development and improvement wherever appropriate;
  • Ensuring appropriate controls and documentation are in place for own areas of responsibility;.
  • Developing new processes and controls in-line with business expansion and automation of the control environment;
