THE ROLE
The Analyst role will be part of a small Management Reporting team sitting within the Finance Function. You will provide support on the key activity of reporting to the Management Committee and Board on the financial performance, historic and forecast, of the business. The team is also responsible for preparing the annual budget, 5 year financial strategic plan, stress testing (as part of the ICAAP and ILAAP) and liquidity and funding reporting. The role will also involve communication and liaison with members of the Senior Executive and Business Managers as well as the broader finance team, CFO and Deputy CFO.

Preparation of Management Committee and Board reports

  • Support the preparation of the report, including preparation of data tables and graphs / charts
  • Prepare first draft analysis and commentary on financial data for review by Manager - analyse and explain variances to budget, growth on prior year, achievability of forecasts, unusual items or trends or individually significant items requiring explanation
  • Ensure that the report is accurate, does not contain errors and is delivered on
  • Identify and implement ways to enhance the report preparation process

Preparation of Liquidity and Funding reporting, including Deposit Committee and ALCO reports

  • Prepare monthly Core deposits calculation
  • Prepare Finance pages for inclusion in the Deposit Committee and ALCO reports

Preparation of reports for Banking Committee and other Banking forums

  • Prepare Finance pages for inclusion in the Banking Committee report
  • Prepare Finance papers for other Banking forums, including customer profitability reporting

Customer profitability / 'Contribution system'

  • Maintain the data in the 'Contribution system' (a system which holds customer data including products held by the customer)

Return on capital calculations / 'Pricing Tool'

  • Support the business in the use of the 'return on capital' model and the calculation of 'return on capital' which is required to support all lending decisions

ICAAP & ILAAP - stress testing

  • Support the development of models used for capital and liquidity stress testing
  • Run stress testing models and analyse results of stress tests
  • Prepare first draft commentary on stress tests for inclusion in the ICAAP and ILAAP

Ad hoc analysis

  • Perform ad hoc analysis as required by the business

THE SUCCESFUL CANDIDATE
To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduate (or equivalent) recently qualified or part qualified accountant with or without financial services experience
  • Experience preparing financial analysis and report writing
  • Enthusiastic self starter with a curious mind
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • A good communicator with an open and direct style; listens, consults others and communicates proactively. Good written and verbal communication
  • Team oriented - demonstrates an interest in understanding of others; adapts to the team and builds team spirit
  • Strong Microsoft office skills, notably Excel, Word and Powerpoint

Advantageous

  • Preferably experience in a similar role in a financial services business, ideally a lending and deposit taking business;
  • Sun Systems general ledger and reporting knowledge an advantage
