THE COMPANY
They are a global investment management group with AUM of over £6 billion with offices throughout Europe. The London business offers funds investing in domestic and global equities, fixed income, private equity, alternatives and multi-assets. They now have an opportunity for a sole charge qualified accountant to assume the responsibilities of its Financial Controller.

THE ROLE
Reporting to the London COO and the Global Head of Finance, the role is a full scale "hands on" financial control role assuming the responsibilities of the company's accountant. The role includes the following:

  • Preparation and review of monthly management accounts for the London business
  • Preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP;
  • Preparation and review of all regulatory reporting including FCA returns; COREP; CASS etc.;
  • Capital adequacy reporting & computation
  • Production and maintenance of ICAAP and Liquidity Management policies;
  • Financial planning and forecasting;
  • Manage the account payable process - bookings and payments;
  • Cash reconciliation - arrange payment of foreign currency payables;
  • Responsible for maintaining and clearing currency accounts;
  • Production and review of quarterly VAT returns;
  • Responsible for the provision of information and the main point of contact for external tax advisors;
  • Liaise with payroll provider monthly for changes to monthly payrolls;
  • Assist the management and other departments with ad hoc projects and tasks and ensure the preparation of information requested in a timely manner;
  • Manage the full relationship with the local auditors to ensure smooth audit and timely sign-off for local and Group reporting;
  • Implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV accounting software;
  • Any other duties required consistent with the role.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:

  • Qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years PQE and a strong academic background
  • Experience working in a smaller company environment within asset / fund management.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Numerate and methodical with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to work autonomously and work in a sole charge role at times under pressure and handle a heavy workload;
  • Energetic, motivated and entrepreneurial;
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills;
