Group Financial Controller
£60,000 - £70,000 + Benefits + Bonus

THE COMPANY
They are an exciting international private equity / venture capital company whose main operation is based in London managing $1.3bn of investments in 6 funds. They have fast growth plans and have recently raised, due to their success and performance, over $500m. The company is going through a massive growth phase and it is likely to see other investment vehicles being added to the structure in the near term. This role will take you on a CFO learning curve and you will work closely with an accomplished, highly professional and commercial CFO who you will learn many things from.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The Financial Controller will need to have the following attributes:

  • ACA qualified with 2-5 years post-qualification experience who is looking to make their first move out of practice or has moved in the last 18 months into a central finance role outside of practice;
  • Previous knowledge of venture capital is not needed and ACA/CA candidates with any type of industry experience will be considered in this corporate role;
  • Strong technical accounting skills;
  • Excellent communicator and strong professionalism;
  • Good written English;
  • Strong systems skills: especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Accounting system's experience would be a bonus;
  • Financial process and control conscious;
  • Open to change and challenge - the CFO already knows what needs to be done in this role;
  • Having a very organised mind;
  • Able to work without close supervision;
  • Eye for detail;

In terms of progression, the company has plans for significant growth and it is likely that the right person will have the opportunity to evolve and grow their role as the business grows.

THE ROLE
As part of its growth, a new role has been created to work alongside the CFO to run the day-to-day financial affairs of the UK operations, to oversee Group reporting and to implementing best practice in terms of improving existing systems and in generally strengthening the overall control environment. This is likely to be a varied role due to the wide responsibilities of the Finance department and it will include significant liaison with and oversight of the work of the local accountants of subsidiaries to ensure consistency of approach and maintenance of high standards. This is a role with substantial responsibility and accountability and will include timely and accurate financial reporting, cash management, provision of financial information to the Board and stakeholders, budget preparation, evaluating financial performance, responding to ad hoc requests and making commercial recommendations to increase the profitability of the business.
