They have an opportunity to join their excellent fixed income research team due to promotion and business growth.

THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Fixed Income, you will communicate fixed income investment ideas to private client fund managers and assist coverage of direct bonds universe (sovereign and corporate). You will have cross asset class collaboration within the research team to include asset allocation, equities and collectives. You will carry out meetings with company management and third party fund providers, due diligence and ongoing monitoring of funds. You will be expected to share your technical expertise on bond markets and sub sectors with other team members as well as provide input into fixed income committee recommendations. Responsibilities will include:

  • Identify investment ideas for inclusion on recommended lists for private client business from the defined investment universe
  • Produce written research to support investment ideas and attend weekly research meetings to discuss ideas, direct further analysis and ensure appropriate communication
  • Assist with input on fixed income to asset allocation committee
  • Portfolio construction: guidance to fund managers on suitability of investments for different clients based on post tax returns, liquidity, risk and how they may fit within the overall portfolio context
  • Help update and maintain company bond lists and information sources include Factset, Excel Lists and the Asset Allocation Modelling system
  • Categorizing of assets for internal modelling, based on risk, ratings, correlation, and liquidity characteristics.
  • Ad-hoc support for fund managers including reacting to fund manager calls requesting price checks, asset valuations and possible attendance at client meetings/ pitches
  • Design and update a daily/weekly Gilt and Index linked spreadsheet
  • Assist the fixed income collective committee to conduct due diligence
  • Prepare FI committee papers
  • Help with FI allocation in an internally run small model portfolio and with Investment Exchange meetings, Research coordination, maintaining Private client models, and internal system bond Classifications
  • Produce index-linked weekly commentary
  • Monitoring cash-flow requirements for a large institutional account and client services on several large institutional mandates

THE CANDIDATE
To be considered for this excellent role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Ideally at least a minimum (there is no maximum) of 2 years of experience in an analytical role (on buy or sell side)
  • MC and CFA or part CFA qualified
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sovereign and corporate bond markets and sub sectors and how to value these, with in depth knowledge of index linked market
  • Understanding of different fixed income strategies and the risks attached to these
  • Basic understanding of fund due diligence, including operational due diligence
  • Other Requirements
  • Strong communication and presentational skills
  • Understanding of risk, suitability liquidity and tax considerations in relation to private client portfolios.
  • Good attention to detail, able to work unsupervised and strong team player

  • Strong EXCEL and Bloomberg understanding and how they work together
