The Company

The organisation are a rapidly growing, dynamic insurance group with an excellent reputation. They have a strong commercial and collegiate team environment where employees are given the opportunity to develop and make significant contributions to organisation's success. The role will support the Group Financial Controller, providing reporting for the group, and assisting in the administration of the group's non-Lloyd's entities and provide the statutory accounting function for all corporate entities. As well as having a technical content and involvement with the production of all Group MI, the role has a strong management side to it involved with mentoring and developing three staff.

The Opportunity

The role is highly varied and will necessitate the managing of relationships through finance and the group as well as the need for strong organisational skills and also the use of strong problem solving skills. The role includes:

  • Assisting in the production of all Group MI.
  • Responsibility and ownership of monthly consolidated group accounting and mmonthly management accounts
  • Responsibility for accounting and reporting for offshore reinsurance company and other group holding / structure entities
  • Production of annual statutory accounts for all group corporate entities
  • Responsible for collation of Agency and Group board packs
  • Assist Group Financial Controller and Group Finance Director in monthly result analysis
  • Responsible for monthly expense reporting against plan and also the expense budgeting process
  • Supporting the management of the corporate treasury function
  • Contributing to liaison with external auditors and internal audit function
  • Liaison with corporation tax advisors and management of group direct tax compliance
  • Preparation, maintenance and application of accounting policies in accordance with current UK accounting standards (UK GAAP) or IFRS where relevant
  • Contributing to finance projects, including IT Financial systems development where relevant
  • Assisting in preparation of Group capital calculations
  • Liaison with internal customers and external stakeholders when required
  • Managing and mentoring team members

Who they are looking for

If you think you have the right mix of experience and technical ability and personality to be able to work across the business as well as finance and fit the criteria below, please apply for the role:

  • A graduate qualified accountant with strong reporting and previous management experience; and,
  • Strong technical UK GAAP or IFRS is essential; and,
  • Some understanding of London and International insurance/reinsurance market dynamics desirable; and,
  • General computer literacy- Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, report writing and presentation skills
  • Good relationship management skills
