Cameron Kennedy is pleased to be partnering with an investment management firm who has a long term record of success manageing over £20bn of assets. Althiough this role will not be involved in the investment decision making directly, it is a critical role providing numbers to the investment team in order for them to reach investment decisions.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A highly numerate and highly PC literate Graduate who has studied in a Mathematical or Statistical discipline such as Maths, Physics or Engineering and with an interest in investment and economics;

  • Previous relevant experience within and investment firm or a bank and knowledge of Equities and Bonds and likely to have been working in a quantitative or risk role

  • Knowledge of financial markets and terminology, and will likely be working towards the CFA qualification;

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, with the knowledge or desire to learn VBA & SQL;

  • Ability to convey complex numerical concepts to non-experts;

  • Able to produce and organise complex information concisely and to tight deadlines;

  • The ideal candidate will be keen to learn and highly motivated. Must be proactive

THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Analytics, in this newly created role you will contribute to the production of useful and accurate numbers to help the fund managers in their decision-making process, bringing together inspiration from various sources to enhance, automate and simplify existing processes. The role will support the Head of Portfolio Analytics and the investment managers with a range of analysis, including performance analysis, risk analysis, financial modelling & system building. You will have direct contact with the investment managers, as well as middle and back office functions across all asset classes. Your main responsibilities will involve maintaining the current infrastructure and processes, alongside analysing data and working on ad hoc projects. The team primarily work with Excel, Access, VBA and SQL, but make use of other financial service applications, such as Bloomberg, as required. Your role will include the following:

  • To construct and maintain spreadsheets to monitor Equity Portfolios and other assets as and when required (Bonds, Futures, Options, Alternatives);

  • To assist with the production and analysis of performance and risk numbers;

  • To help facilitate a smoother flow of data from disparate sources (Bloomberg, DataStream, Index providers, Accounting, etc);

  • Be a resource that fund managers can turn to with quantitative analysis and Excel queries;

  • Gain understanding of the various spreadsheets, excel add-ins, databases, trading systems, and of the data flow within the company to provide support for this infrastructure;

  • To work on ad hoc projects as and when required.
