THE COMPANY
A global financial services group whose business encompasses investment banking, investment and wealth management has an opportunity for a qualified accountant to work in a hands on role within their European Head office based in London. Previous Financial Services industry experience is not essential but highly beneficial. Excellent career progression is offered within this expanding organisation.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
You will be a fully qualified Senior Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with PQE gained from ideally within a Financial Services business, though this is not essential. You will possess a strong technical finance skill set and as you will be involved in the delivery of management and group accounting activities, you will be comfortable operating to tight deadlines maintaining high accuracy.

  • Fully qualified ACCA, ACA, or similar with 4+ years PQE
  • 1+ years supervisory experience
  • Strong technical finance skill set including working knowledge with IFRS
  • Working knowledge of HMRC filings and requirements
  • Working knowledge of general ledger software and financial systems and extensive experience working with pivot tables in excel
  • Strong, administrative and co-ordination skills as well as exceptional attention to detail & excellent communication

THE ROLE
The role is responsible for providing support to the Global Accounting Director and producing financial accounting across all entities within the business. Role will include:

  • Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in the general
  • Collect, compile and review financial data from various sources and review month-end closing entries
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve all variances and issues
  • Produce quarterly VAT returns
  • Responsible for accounting and payroll of Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Zurich locations
  • Liaise with German local accountants on monthly bookkeeping and
  • Assist with UK consolidated financial statements
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts for Zurich subsidiary
  • Supervise two junior finance team members
  • Prepare and post month-end journals (including inter-company and intra-group recharges)
  • Manage accounts receivable process, including monitoring AR inbox, providing reports to the business unit, and supporting associate accountant with raising invoices and applying
  • Liaise with head office for intercompany reconciliation & settlements
  • Liaise with auditors, as well as tax advisors
  • Prepare information for tax returns and expatriate tax reporting compliance
  • Prepare annual PSA return
  • Ensure all Companies House and HMRC filings are made within deadline
  • Assist with European IB invoicing, when needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and processes to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of all group finance deliveries
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and are operating effectively
  • Maintain (current) thorough understanding of IFRS and upcoming industry and regulatory changes
  • Participate in other projects as requested by management
  • Produce ad hoc analysis from time to time
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal departments
  • Mentor and assist less-experienced accounting staff
