They are a leading private equity and alternatives investment firm operating in the UK and Europe. They have a number of investment funds which are supported by them to ensure they operate efficiently, effectively and seek to maximise returns. They are a highly ambitious company with strong strategic expansion plans. Their environment is collegiate and their people are important to them. They are looking for an ambitious person to start a career in fund accounting with them with a view to completing an ACCA qualification (or equivalent). ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Degree qualified 2.1 or higher and strong academic background (GCSEs - minimum B (grade 5) in Maths and English or equivalent and A-Levels - minimum ABB or equivalent);
* Willing to study towards a relevant professional qualification (ACCA or equivalent) and qualify;
* Accounting experience gained via internships or after university
* Excel skills
* Strong numerical skills
* Approach issues with a "can do attitude", driving tasks forward to a successful conclusion
* An interest in funds
* Hands-on style, independent, problem-solving approach
* Proactive and ability to use own initiative
* Strong analytical and detail-oriented aptitude; a high degree of accuracy is required
* Ability to manage time effectively, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
* Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
* Desire/ability to work successfully in a small but rapidly expanding company environment with focused and motivated individuals
* Able to work independently and as part of a team

THE ROLE
The Trainee Fund Accountant will join a team of fund accountants and administrators support the Fund Accountant / Senior Fund Accountant to deliver all aspects of day-to-day accounting for one or more legal structures. You will be supervised and mentored by an experienced Senior Fund Accountant to build your knowledge and capability of the day-today accounting duties. Your role will include the following:
* Undertake accounting services for a range of entities (companies, funds and trusts) up to Trial Balance level including cash books, bank reconciliation and journal using a range of systems;
* Hands on support and preparation of management reporting and maintenance of accounting files for one or more entities;
* Proactively support the preparation of financial statements for one or more entities;
* Complete payment processing duties in accordance with policy and strict deadlines;
* Liaise professionally with stakeholders (internal and external) and third parties (by email, telephone and face to face);
* Complete ad hoc duties as required from time to time;
* Liaise with and assist with the delivery of responses to auditors and stakeholder queries in an accurate and expedient manner.
