THE COMPANY
They are a highly regarded mid-size quoted investment bank with over 270 employees, possibly one of the best financial services companies to work for in the City. They have a commercial culture but are also highly collegiate and promote excellence in everything they do. Reporting to the CFO, the Group Head of Finance is responsible for the effective day-to-day operation and oversight of the Finance department of 10 people. The Finance department oversees the Group's management, financial, regulatory & liquidity reporting. financial planning, recording, controlling and reporting activities from transactional accounting through to the provision of analysis and forecasting for decision-making. You and your team will support senior management in exercising budgetary and financial control in pursuit of the company's strategic objectives.


QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
To be considered for the role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) with 10 years of relevant experience in an
    investment bank or a similar financial institution
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with proven attention to detail
  • Strong reporting skills, including Excel
  • Self-motivated and commercially minded
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Good organisation and process management skills
  • Proven leadership and people management skills over a number of years in a senior leadership position in financial services.

THE ROLE
As the Group Head of Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities within the organisation. Your role will encompass strategic and financial planning, financial reporting & analysis, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Financial Strategy supporting financial objectives including provision of guidance on capital allocation, financial risk management, and investment decisions.
  • Financial Reporting ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines, policies and planning for, and implementing, changes to and compliance with the accounting standards.
  • External Audit: work with external auditors to provide an efficient audit, and dealing with audit issues and key judgements as required. Implement any audit control improvements in a timely manner.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process establishing financial goals and performance targets. Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide insights for decision-making.
  • Cash and Liquidity Management including regular cash flow forecasting, working capital management and ensuring financial stability for the Group reporting to the Board.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Oversight of all regulatory plans and assessments, including the ICARA and regulatory disclosures. Implement and oversee all prudential risk capital and liquidity (IFPRU) reporting, escalating issues as required. Oversight of the prudential risk scenario modelling, stress testing and assumptions for the regulatory plans and assessments.
  • Payroll: Oversight and operation of the payroll processes for the Group.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement a sound control infrastructure to help mitigate financial risks. Ensure any legal or regulatory requirements or changes are monitored and controls designed and implemented to satisfy our obligations.
  • Tax Oversight and Compliance regarding all tax aspects including transfer pricing.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis across the Group to support strategic decision-making, provide detailed analysis of key business lines to support performance management.
  • Team Leadership: Managing and mentoring the finance team ensuring a high-performance culture. Stakeholder Communication of financial performance, forecasts, and strategic initiatives to Senior Management and the Executive Board.
  • Drive continuous process improvements and efficiencies.
