Financial Crime Specialist £42000 + bonus + benefits 15‑Month FTC Central London (hybrid working model - 4 days in the office)
We’re looking for a hands‑on Financial Crime Specialist to join a small, friendly second line team in Central London on a 15‑month fixed term contract. You’ll be right in the mix on AML, sanctions, fraud and assurance work, helping keep the bank safe and compliant while learning a huge amount along the way. You will join a small team within a 150 people bank, part of a successful global banking group engaged in universal banking products.
THE ROLE You’ll support the MLRO across day‑to‑day financial crime work, including:
Keeping on top of AML/CFT, sanctions and anti‑fraud regulatory changes and helping to update policies and procedures.
Supporting internal and external audits, from prep through to tracking and closing actions.
Screening clients and payments (including WorldCheck and similar tools), discounting false positives and escalating real issues.
Helping run monitoring and assurance testing and keeping key registers and trackers up to date (issues, remediation, RCSA, regulatory change, projects).
Carrying out enhanced and standard due diligence checks on new and existing customers (corporates and financial institutions).
Assisting with investigations, fraud registers, adverse media checks and general team admin and reporting.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Graduate educated with a minimun of 1–2+ years’ experience in a financial crime related role (banking or similar regulated environment).
Comfortable interpreting regulations and guidance and turning them into practical controls.
Strong attention to detail, able to juggle deadlines and handle periods of pressure.
Confident with Microsoft Office and typical banking systems; screening tool experience is a plus.
A team player who can also get on with things independently in a multicultural environment.
Arabic speakers preferred
Salary, contract and working pattern
Salary: £42,000 plus benefits and discretionary bonus.
Contract: 15‑month fixed term – you must be able to commit to the full period.
Location: Central London, hybrid working – 4 days a week in the office, 1 day from home.
Sponsorship: Not available – you must already have the right to work in the UK for at least 15 months without the need for sponsorship.
