An Interim Head of Finance / Finance Director is sought by a specialist business technical services provider serving the engineering and building sectors, based in Guildford, Surrey. This is a hands-on and commercial leadership role within a dynamic, growing organisation, offering a competitive daily rate of £400–£450 or a contract salary of £80,000–£85,000.

The finance team is small, requiring an adaptable individual prepared to lead as well as execute core tasks.
The finance function is central to commercial performance and strategy, and the role works closely with the Board, reporting directly to the CEO.
About the Role
The post is based in Guildford, Surrey, with 4–5 days per week in the office.
Responsible for managing and improving profitability, developing and reporting key KPIs, and enhancing finance processes and systems.
Oversee all aspects of finance: statutory accounts, management accounts, cash flow, credit control, accounts payable/receivable, compliance, and tax filings.
Engage in budgeting, risk management, financial controls, and commercial support for tenders.
Mentor and coach the finance team, supporting professional growth.
Candidate Profile
A qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant, with extensive senior finance leadership experience is essential.
Strong track record in group consolidated accounts, financial statements, and cash flow management.
Hands-on, analytical, commercially aware, and able to work closely with senior stakeholders.
Experience with Xero (and ideally HubSpot) finance systems, plus advanced proficiency with core Microsoft Office applications.
Change management and process improvement skills highly desirable.
Additional Details
The interim role is offered initially on a temporary contract, with a view to becoming permanent.
