Credit Manager London (Hybrid) £70,000 per annum plus benefits plus bonus
Overview A boutique London bank is seeking an experienced Credit Manager to lead the credit underwriting and analysis function across its UK lending portfolio. This role is ideal for a commercially minded credit professional who combines strong analytical ability with sound judgment to support prudent lending decisions and portfolio growth.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and underwrite new credit proposals for corporate, SME, and private banking clients in accordance with internal credit policies and regulatory standards.
Conduct detailed financial analysis, including assessment of balance sheets, P&L statements, cash flow, and collateral positions.
Prepare clear and concise credit papers for presentation to the Credit Committee, ensuring recommendations are well-substantiated and risk factors clearly identified.
Monitor portfolio performance, identify early warning signs, and take proactive action to maintain credit quality.
Liaise with relationship managers to balance commercial objectives with risk appetite.
Develop and maintain internal credit policies, procedures, and scoring frameworks suitable for the bank’s size and market exposure.
Support regulatory and audit reviews relating to credit activity and documentation.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in credit underwriting or credit analysis within a banking or financial institution.
Solid understanding of corporate lending, SME finance, and/or real estate-backed facilities.
Strong analytical skills and fluency in financial statement interpretation.
Excellent written communication and credit paper drafting ability.
Familiarity with PRA expectations and relevant UK regulatory standards.
