Group Accountant (Technical)

The Role
This is a business critical role which provides wide exposure to the business, funds and senior business people. You will be one of the group's technical expert who will carry out reviews and deal with technical queries but also bearing in mind commercial considerations. Your role is wide ranging and you:

  • Will advise the finance team of different analytical issues - interpretation of LPA's (Limited Partnership Agreements), treatment of accounting standards under various GAAPs (IFRS, UK GAAP, US GAAP, different European GAAPs, etc.), and also carry out analysis of fund models.
  • Maintain detailed and high level reviews of deliverables (financial statements, carried interest calculations models, drawdowns & distributions, rebalancing & equalization interest calculations, ad-hoc tasks, etc.),
  • Will provide training to the finance team which will include designing and delivering presentations and training sessions on private equity technical interpretation as it applies to various fund issues.
  • Prepare sales packs and sampler investor reports and accounts for various types of funds (private equity/venture capital, property, infrastructure, mezzanine, investment trusts, GPs, carried interest partners, etc.) and fee proposals,
  • Help/advise in developing new product lines (new types of funds) and new jurisdictions.
  • Will provide technical advice and training to ensure that staff can fully utilize their potentials, systems and internal resources to complete their respective tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Will provide technical support and review the financial statements produced to ensure highest standards are maintained in service delivery and all internal / external deadlines are timely met.
  • Will identify control weaknesses during review assistance and recommend control procedures to reduce risk
  • Will identify / Update procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the group system and processes
  • Will challenge and suggest ways the company can improve and develop profitability

The Candidate
If you are interested in a high profile role which has an impact on the business and profitability as well as being influential within the finance function. To be considered for the role you must:

  • Be a qualified ACA / ACCA with experience gained within a top 10 Accountancy firm with ideally 2 - 5 years PQE
  • Have experience gained of financial services or working on technical matters in a financial services firm.
  • Have strong IFRS technical knowledge (including relating to Financial Instruments and Consolidation)
  • Have technical research skills or experience or mind-set.
