MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the new merged entity accounting and workflows, as performed in London
  • Managing the closure of the UK "Line" shipping company balance sheet, including statutory obligations
  • Ensure that the statutory responsibilities of two active UK entities are fulfilled
  • Ensuring that business and financial controls remain in place and are stable now that the merger has been completed, and that new processes and procedures meet the necessary level of control to ensure the financial protection of the businesses
  • Following a restructure, providing coaching and support to the Trade Accountants in their new business partnering role
  • Working with the head office of the newly merged company on finance tasks and projects
  • Maintain and create new finance processes fitting to the merged companies
  • To a strict timetable, ensure that the production of the company's UK monthly management accounts continues in the newly merged company
  • Nurture and facilitate the reciprocal flow of information between Finance & other departments, particularly the Trade teams
  • Manage cover for relevant Finance sections for holiday and sickness where absence impacts upon delivery
  • Any other project or task that is required, either to ensure a successful outcome to the merger of the two companies, or to maintain day to day operations

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to learn quickly about shipping and in-house finance and IT systems
  • Resilience to deal with paper oriented processes, and a team which requires strong leadership
  • Strong analytical reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Expert user of Excel, including ability to manipulate and interpret large tranches of data and provide cogent management reports
  • Team oriented, working to ensure all tasks, not just their own get completed to a high standard and on time
  • Planful and well organised with desire to prioritise work according to shifting demands
  • Ability to instil confidence in others as to their expertise and competence
