Corporate and Tax Accountant (12 month contract)
£65000 - £75000 + bonus + benefits

Our client is a multi‐strategy hedge fund based in Central London, investing primarily in distressed debt and special situations. In the last 5 years since launch they have experienced significant and stable growth to a current AUM in excess of $4.5bn. The fund is managed by a small number of highly entrepreneurial people. The company is now recruiting for recruiting a qualified accountant for a 12 month maternity leave cover for a team member in its Accounting & Operations team.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will:

  • Have a strong academic background (i.e. Russell Group with 2.1+ degree or equivalent)
  • Hold an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification with post‐qualified commercial experience
  • Have strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Be familiar with both UK and US tax reporting
  • Show excellent attention to detail, even when under pressure
  • Display self‐motivation and willingness to take ownership of projects
  • Demonstrate a thorough and robust thought process

THE ROLE
You would be focused primarily on UK financial, tax and regulatory reporting for the LLP firm and its Corporate Member/service entity. Additionally, it would encompass responsibility for numerous tax reporting requirements including US tax reporting for the firm's Cayman based Fund, VAT reporting and UK tax reporting on carried interest awards. There is potential for the role to expand to include other operational & transaction support tasks involving but not limited to trade settlement and monitoring, working with external fund administrators to oversee the preparation of monthly investor reporting and involvement in tax advice on deal structuring. The firm is therefore looking to hire an experienced individual to support their Accounting & Operations team and who has the ability to take ownership of financial and tax reporting tasks from the offset. For a strong candidate, the role also presents an exciting opportunity to take on broader and more integral role within a dynamic team. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Work with external accountants to prepare the management accounts and financial, tax & regulatory reporting for the Investment Manager;
  • Preparation of budget and financial forecasts for the Investment Manager;
  • Oversight of the preparation of the quarterly VAT returns for the Investment Manager;
  • Work with auditors for the Investment Manager;
  • Oversight of the preparation of US tax reporting for both the Fund and investors (K1/PFICs and Partnership Returns);
  • Close oversight of UK tax reporting calculations for carried interest awarded to UK domicile and non-domicile individuals.
